The Second Half Project: ‘out of school’ education & learning programme
A unique opportunity for children to participate in an “out of school” learning experience at Rodney Parade. Aimed at years 5 & 6 the day is a challenging and exciting opportunity for pupils to improve their skills in literacy and numeracy.
Their activities include meeting and interviewing one of the Dragons star players; undergo the impressive 'Changing Room Experience' alongside other educational activities. Each child leaves with a 10-hour autographed educational booklet which always goes down well. Again this project has been developed with the full support of local schools and additional partners.
The scheme is fully regionalised. And we are actively seeking schools from all over Gwent to come and enjoy the day. We have had schools from Pontypool, Abergavenny and Chepstow but the opportunity is open for all schools in Gwent to visit the project.
For many schools in Newport this is the 15th year they will have visited the scheme and to develop the scheme further we are now developing a new dimension that will entail the visiting schoolchildren participating in health related physical activities.
This project is open to all schools throughout the region and if you are interested in spending a day at Rodney Parade contact Community Manager Mike Sage on firstname.lastname@example.org
