 New Zealand born James Arlidge joined the Dragons from Japanese team NTT Kansai in 2008 where he also gained 14 caps for the national Japanese team. James is a dynamic player who confidence has grown since arriving at the Dragons

James was born in Hamilton, New Zealand where he was thrown in the deep end at a young age. He played Super 14 rugby for the Auckland Blues before provincial rugby for Auckland, ahead of moving on to play for NPC teams Northland and Otago, rival Super 14 team The Highlanders and the New Zealand Maori’s. James then took a big step by moving to Japan singing for Osaka based club NTT Kansai. After gaining residency he was chosen to play for Japanese National Squad scoring 2 tries and kicking 10 out of 10 conversions on his debut.

James has brought his sense of structure and composure to the Dragons which has helped him and the team obtain lots of success since his arrival. He was a vital part of the 2008-2009 campaign as the team’s leading point scorer with 130 point in 18 games.
